Shorthorn Breeding Heifer & Bulls
The sale is now live for the sale of a young Shorthorn heifer and two Shorthorn breeding bulls bred by members of the Irish Shorthorn Society.
Lot 1 CLOUNMACCON CHERRY 607
Cherry is a beautiful red roan heifer, she has plenty of length and growth with breed character in abundance from an exceptional Clounmaccon Cherry cow family. Influential sires in her pedigree include Alta Cedar Lads Legacy 14P & Ballyart Lucky, and the formidable Crega Dice in the mix. All indicators suggest this Cherry lady will be a productive cow in the making and every possibility of success in the show ring along the way.
Lot 3 RICKETSTOWN PILOT
Ricketstown Pilot is a young bull with huge potential. He has tremendous eye appeal with the pedigree to match. Sired by the powerhouse Elliot Matrix who has bred bulls to 13k and females to 7k. his dam is an outstanding young cow by Podehole Elite from one of the oldest cow families in the breed, the famous flossy line. Flossy Meg has never been shown (due to covid) but she is earmarked to make her debut this summer. The pilot has inherited his sire's growth, dams size and correctness rate with a DWG of 1.4kg from birth. his carcass figures are through the roof in fact on ICBF he is 6 times the breed average. while maintaining a very low calving figure of just 3%.
Lot 13 RATHGOWNEY HANDSOME 867
Rathgowney Handsome 867 is a real traditional type beef shorthorn displaying all the qualities of the breed, He is a very well made bull with a super head, feet and locomotion. He is easy fleshing with great thickness throughout whilst maintaining nice softness and is extremely placid. His pedigree leaves him a 5-star replacement figure with below-average calving figures.
His sire Rockville John Joe has a formidable old Irish bloodline with Glasgeivnagh (Gerald McCann) & Knockanedan (John Joe Conway) lines coming together to produce Rockville John Joe the sire of Handsome. He is genotyped, Handsome 867, is a bull suitable for pedigree, beef or dairy herds and is sure to leave his mark.
